In order to contribute to advancing the frontiers of genetics, NIG has been organizing and sponsoring international symposia and promoting academic interactions among researchers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
This year, we will support an international symposium titled “1st Asia-Pacific Drosophila Research Conference (APDRC1)”, to be held in Taipei, Taiwan.

The aim of APDRC1 is to provide a forum for young Drosophila researchers in the Asia-Pacific region. APDRC is a cross-disciplinary meeting, bringing together Drosophila researchers throughout the globe to present and discuss their cutting-edge research in genetics and other fields of life sciences. Participation of young scientists in such a cross-disciplinary meeting is crucial for widening their perspectives, and for the future development of life sciences. Internationally renowned Drosophila researchers not only from Asia-Pacific region but also from North America and Europe have accepted the invitation to speak at the symposium. For postdocs and students, APDRC1 offers a number of Travel Fellowships.
