Dissertation Work in Advanced Studies I(A, B)〜V(A, B) One semester, 2 credits
Students perform research and write their degree theses under the guidance of their supervisor. The contents of the course are determined by discussion between each student and his/her supervisor and must lead to a PhD degree thesis including novel research findings.
Through taking the successive courses students shall advance and see to completion research that fulfills the criteria of the PhD degree. During the course of their studies they will develop the skills necessary to function as an independent researcher.
Every semester the supervisor evaluates the actual achievement of each student in comparison with the goals previously determined together with the student and assigns a grade of A, B, C, or D.
The detailed contents of the course are determined by deep frequent discussion between each student and his/her supervisor. The course contents receive feedbacks from Genetics Progress IA-VB and must lead to a PhD degree thesis including novel research findings.
Educational materials required for conducting the PhD study, if any, shall be designated by the supervisor.
In principle, Dissertation Work in Advanced Studies I (A, B)-V (A, B) should be taken sequentially from years D1 through D5.
