Associate Professor Yuta Shimamoto at the Laboratory of Physical Cell Biology has been awarded an Accelerator Grant from the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP).
HFSP supports international, interdisciplinary research projects that challenge existing paradigms and extend the frontiers of the life sciences. Established in 1989, HFSP is recognized as one of the world’s leading international funding organizations for frontier research in the life sciences, with the broader goal of advancing scientific knowledge for the benefit of humanity.
The awarded project will investigate a specialized mode of asymmetric division in spiralian embryos through comparative studies of mitotic spindles and polar lobe formation, leveraging the biophysical expertise of the Shimamoto laboratory.
The research project will commence this fall.
