Applicants holding nationality only of Taiwan, which does not have diplomatic relations with Japan, are not eligible for Japanese Government Scholarships and must apply for the NIG-GS Selection or General Admission. Additionally, successful applicants from Taiwan, who will be admitted as Privately-Financed International Students, are encouraged to apply for the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association Scholarship, which is equivalent to the Japanese Government Scholarship.

Applicants from Taiwan who wish to apply to the Genetics Program are advised to carefully read and consider the differences between the Application Guidelines, conditions and schedule of overseas recruitment (from Taiwan) and domestic recruitment (within Japan) for the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association Scholarship in addition to the conditions, schedule and admission period of both the NIG-GS Selection and the General Admission.
