Stretched Graduate Program

Objectives

This system allows students with certain personal reasons to plan their curriculum in a period exceeding the standard duration of study (3 or 5 years). If the application is approved, it is possible to “stretch” the period covered by tuition without taking a leave of absence or repeating a year. Students can earn course credits and receive guidance throughout the stretched period.

Qualifications

Students who have difficulties in attending school as a regular (full time) student for personal reasons such as work (regardless of regular or non-regular employment), housework, child raising, and nursing care.

A student who has a job (employee of a company/organization)

A student who has difficulties in attending school full time due to child raising or nursing care.

A student who is found by the Genetics Program to have unavoidable circumstances For example,
a student who cannot secure the required fulltime study time per day due to health reasons

Application Period

For enrolled students:

By the end of January if wishing to start the program from the first semester
By the end of June if wishing to start the program from the second semester

For newlyenrolled students:

Upon application for admission

Note

Maximum years of study:

Three-year doctoral course: 5 years
Five-year doctoral course: 8 years

Extension:

A one-time extension of the study period shall be allowed to an extent not exceeding the maximum years of study.

Inapplicable students:

Three-year doctoral course: A student who has been enrolled for more than two years since the day of enrollment
Five-year doctoral course: A student who has been enrolled for more than four years since the day of enrollment

Shortening of the study period:

Shortening of the study period for outstanding research achievement shall not apply.
