Scientific Writing II (2012) Syllabus




Course objectives:
The ultimate goal of the "Scientific Writing I-III" course series is to obtain scientific writing skills that scientists need in order to present their research internationally.The course is designed to provide ooportunities for self-development of students as independent researchers.

None

Contents:

This year's course is called "The Art of the Blurb: Mastering Abstracts and Research Summaries ". A well-written abstract is one of the most important ways for scientists to reach their intended audience. This class will discuss properties of effective abstracts using both examples from the literature and work from class members. Students will also learn how to construct research summaries (almost always necessary for science job applications) as well as researcher web-page self-introductions.
