Presentation skills for non-native speakers of English --- Rationale and training methods ---
Hokto KAZAMA RIKEN BSIj

The ability to present in English has become a prerequisite in academia today. Non-native speakers of English must make additional efforts to give a clear and effective presentation. Because of these efforts, we non-natives have a privilege to realize the essence of presentation. In this class, I will first discuss this essence of presentation. Second, I will talk about the basic approaches that are useful for giving an effective presentation. Third, I will introduce approaches that are particularly useful for non-natives. Whenever possible, I will try to demonstrate the effectiveness of each approach using examples. Finally, I will share my training methods that I have been employing to improve my presentation skills. These can be done even while working in the lab.
