被子植物では、花の各器官の形成に引き続き、雄蕊および雌蕊の原基内部に生殖始原細胞が分化します。生殖始原細胞は数回の体細胞分裂を経て、減数分裂細胞とそれらを包む保育細胞を形成します。減数分裂は、両親の遺伝子が組換えによりシャッフルされ、新しい遺伝子組み合わせをもつ染色体が創出される、正に遺伝の根幹を為す現象です。 |
