進化の果てにうまれる生物の構造や機能は、ときとして信じられないほど複雑精緻なものになります。我々のミッションは、こうした革新的形質に通底する進化の仕組みを解明することです。目的達成のため、私たちはバイオインフォマティクスと分子生物学的アプローチを統合し、さまざまな生物、特に植物に焦点を当てて研究を進めています。特に、動物を「食べて」しまう食虫植物を起点に、収斂進化、転用進化、劇的な形態変化、表現型可塑性、生物間相互作用、全ゲノム重複など、生物進化の鍵となる現象の解明を進めています。
