Topic 9: Presenting Arguments and Challenging Logic

The first topic we cover in this unit is how to effectively present our argument. The words we choose will lend varying degrees of reliability and confidence to the claims we make. Some data is stronger than other data, and likewise, some expressions are stronger than others. It is our duty as presenters to represent the data we provide as accurately and as honestly as possible. The second topic we will cover is how to challenge or refute ideas without insulting or challenging the person who presents those ideas. We will practice both of these simultaneously over the two weeks by discussing real and imaginary data. Students will have the opportunity to present, challenge, and defend ideas and logical arguments based entirely on provided data.
