Topic 8: Streamlining and Signposts

This week we look at ways to organize the language of your presentation to minimize audience confusion. If sentences feel disconnected or as though there is a gap in logic between them, the audience will have to concentrate harder to decipher what you are trying to say. As a result, they are distracted from the actual message and may miss important ideas or explanations. By streamlining our speech, we can help our audience follow the flow of our presentation with ease. Using signposts to give them additional hints on how they should listen and prepare them for what is to come in the presentation will make it even easier for them to follow along.
