６．履修条件、受講方法：
分子生物学の基礎があり，またコンピュータ言語の基礎知識があることが望ましい。
教材は基本的には英語で作成されているが，一部の講師は日本語で講義を行っている。
ウェブ形式なので，各自が使っているウェブブラウザーを立ち上げて，見ること。７．授業内容の概要：
バイオインフォマティクス（あるいは生命情報学）は，コンピュータを用いた生物分野の大規模データ解析技法の総称である。その基礎について，特に分子進化学的解析を中心とした講演ビデオを参考にしつつ，インターネットを駆使して自分でいろいろなデータベースを探して検索したり解析したりする。８．授業の達成目標：
バイオインフォマティクスの基礎を習得し、基本的な課題について、原論文や総説を探して読み、正しく理解し、レポートにまとめることができるようになる。９．授業計画：（対面講義）
第０章〜第８章から構成されるが，同時に６名の講師のビデオがあり，それらは有機的に校正されている。10．使用参考書、参考文献：

Familiarity with basic concepts of molecular biology and those of computer programming is recommended.７．Contents:
This course will introduce basic principles and concepts of bioinformatics using web-based e-learning system. Each lecturer gives lecture(s) on one's speciality, and students are expected to hear all of them. This course will be conducted mainly in English.８．Course objectives:
To understand basic disciplines of bioinformatics. To become familiar with some bioinformatic tools such as homology search, multiple alignment, phylogenetic tree construction, and text mining.９．Schedule:

To obtain credit one must hear all lectures and should answer at least two assignments. Grades (Pass/Fail) will be determined based on the report on assignments.
